About a month ago, Danbury broke into the craft beer game with the debut of its first local brewery, Charter Oak Brewing Company. The master brewers specialize in farm-to-glass beers. They receive their barley and hops right before they begin the brewing process and mill the barley in-house the day-of in order to ensure the highest quality pints.
They also brew in small batches, only about 250 to 280 cases at a time, so you can always count on the freshest suds possible when you pick up a case. Of course, it doesn’t get any fresher than a pint poured just feet from where it was brewed. Stop by the taproom for a pint or a flight of the beers. The tap list changes on a daily basis, but you’ll usually find signature brews such as the Easy Riding Kolsche, the Brewbury IPA, and the Midnight Ride Porter. The tap list is IPA-heavy, so all IPA enthusiasts have lots of options at Charter Oak.
