No longer the new kid on the block, Mezon Tapas Bar & Restaurant has been serving up small plates in the heart of the Mill Plain Road dining district for close to a decade now. The restaurant’s decor and menu illustrate the influences that Mezon takes from Spain, from Latin America, and from New England (think local plants set against a Spanish-colonial entryway, and you’ll get a sense of how this place blends elements of the old and new world).
The menu is mostly focused on tapas-style small plates, integrating locally-sourced ingredients and Latin American flair. The Venezuelan arepas, Brazilian fritters, and Peruvian chicken skewers are just three examples of the kitchen’s range, while the paella and chorizo showcases the chef’s Spanish bona fides. Don’t sleep on the wine and cocktail menu, either—regulars say the happy hour specials are reason enough to make a visit.
